Overview

Buzzwords like Blockchain, Crypto, and Web3 are thrown around everywhere on the internet - but do you actually know what they mean? Curious about Bitcoin, NFTs, or why everyone keeps talking about "decentralization"?

We're opening the doors to what some call the next evolution of the internet - a world where you (supposedly) own your data, your money, and your digital identity. No middlemen, no big corporations calling the shots. Just you, your wallet, and a whole lot of hype.

This talk will break it all down, from the basics to the buzzwords, and give you the tools to decide whether Web3 is revolutionary, ridiculous, or somewhere in between.

What you'll learn
  • What blockchain actually is (spoiler: it's a fancy ledger).

  • How cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum work, and why people care.

  • What Web3 means - decentralization, smart contracts, DAOs, and all that jazz.

  • NFTs: digital ownership or just expensive JPEGs?

  • Crypto wallets: your passport to Web3 (and how not to lose your life savings).

  • Why some people think this is the future, and why others think it's a bubble.

What we'll cover
  • Blockchain 101: The tech that powers all of this - immutable ledgers, consensus mechanisms, and why it matters.

  • Cryptocurrency basics: Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, tokens, gas fees, and mining.

  • Web3 explained: How decentralized apps (dApps), smart contracts, and DAOs are supposed to change the internet.

  • NFTs and digital ownership: What they are, how they work, and why people pay millions for monkey JPEGs.

  • The hype and the reality: Separating genuine innovation from marketing fluff and outright scams.

Who should attend
  • Newbies who've heard these terms but have no idea what they mean.

  • Skeptics who think it's all a scam and want to understand the arguments.

  • Crypto-curious folks who want to dip their toes in without losing their shirts.

  • Experts who want to flex their knowledge and debate the pros and cons.

  • Toddlers (yes, really - get them started early on financial literacy and meme culture). 🐤

What to bring
  • An open mind (or a skeptical one, we welcome both).

  • Questions about crypto, NFTs, blockchain, or whether your cousin's "investment opportunity" is legit.

  • A sense of humor - because this space is wild.

What you'll walk away with
  • A solid grasp of blockchain fundamentals and how crypto actually works.

  • The ability to explain Web3 to your non-technical friends (or roast it at parties).

  • Resources to dive deeper, whether you want to build on Web3 or just understand the headlines.

  • A clearer picture of the risks, rewards, and realities of this space.

    The agenda
    • Intro: What even is Web3, and why does everyone care?

    • Blockchain deep dive: How it works, why it's "trustless," and what problems it solves (or doesn't).

    • Crypto crash course: Coins, tokens, wallets, exchanges, and how not to get rekt.

    • Smart contracts and dApps: Code that runs itself, for better or worse.

    • NFTs and the metaverse: Digital art, virtual land, and the future of ownership (?).

    • The debates: Decentralization vs. centralization, innovation vs. speculation, freedom vs. scams.

    • Q&A: Your chance to grill us on everything from "wen Lambo" to "is this actually useful?"

      Code of conduct

Be respectful, ask questions, and don't shill your obscure altcoin. We're here to learn, not to pump and dump.
