LegalEase AI is an intelligent, open-source web application designed to simplify complex legal documents and help users understand contracts before signing them. Legal language is often difficult to interpret, filled with technical terminology, hidden clauses, and one-sided conditions that most individuals cannot fully comprehend. This lack of understanding can lead to financial loss, unfair obligations, or legal disputes.

LegalEase AI addresses this problem by using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and rule-based risk analysis to automatically examine uploaded legal documents such as rental agreements, employment contracts, loan agreements, and service contracts.

The platform allows users to upload a PDF or text document, which is then processed through a structured AI pipeline. The system extracts and cleans the text, detects key legal clauses (such as payment terms, termination conditions, penalties, liability clauses, auto-renewal terms, and arbitration clauses), and classifies them into meaningful categories.

Each detected clause is analyzed using a weighted risk-scoring algorithm. The algorithm evaluates factors such as penalty severity, one-sided termination rights, unlimited liability exposure, and automatic renewals without clear notice. Based on this evaluation, the document is assigned a risk level (Low, Medium, or High), along with a visual risk meter and highlighted sections within the original document.

In addition to clause detection and risk scoring, LegalEase AI includes a legal simplification engine that converts complex legal language into plain, easy-to-understand English. Users can compare the original clause with a simplified explanation, enabling informed decision-making without requiring professional legal expertise.

The application features a clean, dashboard-style interface with visual analytics, clause distribution charts, and structured summaries. It is built using a modern full-stack architecture with React for the frontend, Flask or Node.js for the backend, Python-based NLP processing, and a structured database for secure data handling.

LegalEase AI is fully open-source, modular, and designed for scalability.
