Smart Electric Leakage Detection and Shock Prevention System

An IoT-based system that detects electric leakage by comparing area-based current flow and automatically cuts power to prevent shock accidents during rainy conditions.

Description

Electric shock accidents significantly increase during rainy seasons due to exposed or damaged electrical wiring. To address this serious public safety issue, this project proposes a Smart IoT-Based Electric Leakage Detection and Shock Prevention System.

The system continuously monitors electrical current at both the starting and ending points of a defined area. By comparing the incoming and outgoing current values, the system can accurately detect leakage occurring within the zone. If a mismatch is detected, indicating potential leakage, a smart relay automatically disconnects power supply to the affected area. This immediate response prevents electric shock incidents and enhances public safety.

The solution focuses on area-based current comparison rather than single-point detection, making it more reliable and precise. Additionally, the system updates leakage status on a monitoring dashboard, allowing authorities to quickly identify hazardous zones and safely dispatch maintenance teams.

Key Features:
• Real-time current monitoring
• Area-based leakage detection
• Automatic power cutoff using smart relay
• Rain-sensitive safety enhancement
• Monitoring dashboard for authorities
• Isolates only affected area instead of entire grid

Innovation:
The core innovation lies in comparing current at two different points within a specific zone to accurately detect internal leakage. This ensures faster detection and reduces false alarms compared to traditional systems.

Impact:
• Prevents electric shock accidents
• Protects public and maintenance workers
• Supports smart city infrastructure
• Contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities)
