About

We are OpenLake, IIT Bhilai's Open Source Society (in collaboration with FOSS Club IIT Bhilai). We’re the people who build things instead of just talking about building things, and we're officially kicking off Decoding FOSS: Practical Open Source Basics

What You’ll Learn & Explore:

  1. The FOSS Ecosystem: What Free and Open Source Software is, why it matters, and how global communities collaborate.
  2. Hands-on Workflows: Interactive discussions, live demos, and a beginner-friendly introduction to Git & GitHub.
  3. Domain Clubs: Meet the team and explore our specialized wings in Game Dev, AI/ML, and Web Dev.
  4. Your First Contribution: Step-by-step guidance to make your first commit with zero prior experience required.

Who can attend?

Students of IIT Bhilai and members of the local tech community, regardless of prior experience.

Session Details:

  1. Date: 22nd August
  2. Time: 4:00 PM
  3. Venue: L101

No prerequisites. No pressure. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to build (and maybe walk out with more than you expected!).
