Strudel turns writing code into making music. Live in the browser with nothing to install. This workshop introduces complete beginners to live coding. Strudel, a browser-based live coding environment, removes almost every piece of friction that normally stands between a beginner and making music with code: no installs, no setup, no prior musical or programming background required.

Music creation should be for everyone.

A complete beginner with zero coding experience can write a few lines in Strudel, on a phone, a laptop, or any device with a relatively modern browser and get sound out of it within minutes.

In this session, I'll guide participants from a blank editor to a live performance using Strudel (https://strudel.cc), an opensource browser live coding environment. I'll also talk candidly about the current limits of networked/collaborative live coding like clock sync across devices and how that shapes what's realistic to attempt when collaborating.
